A client had a $600,000 federal tax lien filed against him by the IRS. After consulting and negotiating with the IRS failed to get us the desired result, we filed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy and reduced the tax lien to approximately $60,000. The $540,000 balance was discharged by the bankruptcy and our client set up and completed a payment plan for the remaining $60,000 owed.
In another matter, a client was in foreclosure due to the fact that the lender improperly credited the client's payments to the wrong account. We successfully defended the foreclosure lawsuit by showing how the lender had sued our client in bad faith, enabling the client to live in the home payment free for two years. The client is now considering a class-action lawsuit against the lender.
In a third matter, a client had tried to modify her second mortgage for many months, only to be denied any relief. We filed a Chapter 13 bankruptcy and, because the amount due on the first mortgage exceeded the value of her home, we successfully wiped out the entire amount of the second mortgage, allowing our client to drastically reduce her monthly expenses and save her home. She was also able to eliminate all of her credit card debt and medical bills while paying these creditors pennies on the dollar.
